Ich habe mal aus einem anderen Forum etwas kopiert. Da hat ein Mensch eine Anfrage bei AMAL (Burlen) gemacht, warum neue Schwimmernadeln eingeführt werden.

Dear Mr T.,
Thank you for your recent enquiry
There is more than one reason for the introduction of the new float.
Our current nylon floats are resistant to modern ethanol mix fuels, and we have only had two failures returned to us in the last two years. However we maintain a constant watch on the effects of ethanol in fuel and we have been concerned by reports of widely varying ethanol proportions, particularly in the USA. This may cause problems with original Amal floats and, as there are at least three sources of counterfeit floats we presume they are the source of reports we hear of floats failing regularly. The new float is part of an ongoing policy of improving SU and Amal carburetters, is recognisably a genuine Amal product and securely future-proofs the Concentric carburetters from the effect of fuel additives. The Monobloc version is in the pipeline.
The manufacture of the float is easier to control and the overall quality is consistently better than the nylon floats, which have a history of problems with the weight of the float and the orientation of the tangs.
The adjustable tangs are a useful opportunity for us to disseminate information about the relationship between float levels and fuel levels in the Mark 1 Concentric and correct the impression that the popularly applied float height of 0.080" below the chamber edge is applicable to all Amal float chambers. We have had to deal with a number of customers who have adjusted the float level of their new carburetters and wondered why they then do not work correctly. We have also encountered customers who have adjusted the needle seats of float chambers of different types and given themselves widely different fuel levels on each carburetter! We have published information about the differences between float chambers on our website so that the different eras of float chambers can be identified and the suitable adjustments applied to produce the correct fuel level.
If there are any other questions you have about the new float, or our other products, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards,
Phil Beresford
